Mid: R750 Summer: R900

The cottage, Harbour Views, is situated in de Waterkant ("The Waterside"). This part of Cape Town lies between the city centre and Greenpoint (home of the new Cape Town Stadium where the 2010 Football World Cup games will be hosted). Lying on the lower slope of Signal Hill provides good views of Table Bay Harbour and the mountains beyond.

Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, at the Green Point end of Waterkant Street, [3 blocks from the Cape Quarter] this double-storied, pet friendly, character cottage offers tranquil accommodation for 2 couples. Furnished with antiques and original art-work, the ambience is just like home.

Entering from the street there is a deck [+/- 16m2], and the front door opens into a spacious hallway/ stairwell. Leading off this is a dining room seating six, next to which is a bedroom with a queen size bed. There is an en-suite shower, lavatory and vanity [plus washing machine] which opens on to a courtyard, doubling as secure parking with an electric/auto door.

The kitchen leads off the hallway, and has a 4 plate gas hob, large fridge/freezer, dish washer and combination microwave/grill oven.

The stairs lead upwards to a spacious lounge with 2 x 3-seater couches, desk, television, DVD player, coffee tables, drinks cabinet with bar fridge and CD player. Double doors open onto a +/- 14m2 balcony offering views of the docks, Table Bay and a portion of the Waterfront.

The master bedroom also has double doors leading to the balcony, and from the queen size bed there is a view of Table Bay. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with both shower and a bath.

It is a short walk to the Waterfront [10 minutes max] from the cottage and a 15 min stroll to the city centre.

There is a Telkom pay as you go land-line to access the Internet. Wireless broadband internet can be arranged at an extra cost.

A weekly maid service is included in the rate.

De Waterkant consists of a residential zone hugging the lower reaches of Signal Hill. Some of the roads are still paved with stone and the compact houses are old and solid hybrids of Dutch, Malay and British colonial styles. Over the last few years this quaint historic environment has been the focus of a lot of redevelopment and the end result is an interesting hybrid of the Old Cape and new City.

Good restaurants, super-cool coffee shops and bars, decor and clothing shops and penthouse photographic studios are all to be found within this city-edge village. All within a five minute walk of Harbour Views.

About 10 to 15 minutes walk away and situated within the harbour precinct is the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. This high-end shopping centre does a great job of blending retail, restaurants and entertainment into a scenic working harbour setting.
