Cape Town Digest - food, wine, and places to stay
|
| Cape Town Digest is the official propaganda wing of Holiday Rentals Cape Town, www.rentalscapetown.com. We live in Cape Town and love it and want to tell you about what we get up to and what's good about our town so that you'll come and visit it.
Going out to good restaurants, discovering great fresh produce, bread, meat, cheeses and wine; visiting the areas around Cape Town that lovingly farm and produce this stuff are what we like doing a lot. |

Recommendation Sea Point Paris Beach | Wide Angle Ocean Views |
|
Hi Rose,
Best wishes for 2009 for you and your family! These are our findings of the appartment. The style and decorations are lovely. The furniture has been carefully chosen and the interior designer has definitely done a fantastic job in creating space. The views from the balcony are mesmerising. The sea is like an ever changing painting. One day it will be calm, the next there will be huge crashing waves. We saw whales almost every day from the end of september onward. We also went to Hermanus 2 times but although the whales come much closer there I'm pretty sure we saw much more whales on a daily basis from our balcony. We also saw large schools of dolphins (100+) regularly. We cooked every day and found that the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans (although a wok would have been nice) The bathrooms were lovely. The bath is large (according to European standards) and comfortable. The lighting above the bath makes for a truely relaxing bathing experience. The shower in the 2nd bathroom was great. Especially the design.
The beds are comfortable. And it's wonderfull to be able to see both the sea as well as Lions head while lying in the masterbeadroom.
From the appartment you are in walking distance to 3 supermarkets (Checkers/ Woolworths food/ Spar). The new Plaza da Luz has some nice shops and a Vida e Cafe. Very conveniet. A little further down the road is a larger Woolworths and also some lovely speciality shops such as The Main Ingredient and a luxury flower shop. The area of Sea Point that we stayed in seems like a village in a city. It is very easy to get into the city itself either by your own car, a cab or even on foot.
We didn't miss having a pool in the complex because of the Pavillion which is 2 minutes walk from the appartment. It has 4 pools and opens very early every morning. I think Arjan sometimes went as early as 6:30. In the evenings we went for a run on the boulevard/ promenade and at the weekends we regularly walked to Camps bay (45 min) or Clifton (20 min). Very necessary to work off those extra kg's that we gained sampeling the wine we bought directly from the various wine estates.
I would definitely recommend the appartment to couples/ singles with a fast-paced life-style. Please feel free to forward my e-mail address to anyone who might want some additional information.
Let me know if you have anyone looking for a similar seize 2 bedroom appartment 10 minutes walk from the sea in The Hague with a garden and overlooking the dunes. :-)
Kind regards, Hedwig

Foraging for ideas at the Bandwidth Barn
Just “stepping out” from the Idea Workshop at the Bandwidth Barn in Cape Town. 3 gruelling days of school and instant coffee. Why do Rose and I subject ourselves to this? Because holiday accommodation isn’t just about comfy beds and views of sugar white beaches from decks of exotic timber. Its about silicon, high tech, [...]

Perfect Sea Point morning
An appointment to see a Sea Point studio on the beach front went awry so we ended up sitting here sipping coffee from polystyrene coffee cups at the the tent of coffee and all day breakfast next to the Sea Point Pavilion. Wonder at the almost real time nature of the photograph. Just a 5 [...]

One Off White
Well we weren’t going to drink anything tonight (being a Sunday night we try to be fresh for Monday even though we work from home). But unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately as I really enjoyed it – we decided to have a glass. Another well priced option – this time One Off White from Woolworths – [...]
