{Rooms and layout}

The apartment extends over 2 floors- the ground floor has the second bedroom with en-suite bathroom consisting of a shower and hand basin. The toilet is located with a separate hand basin just outside and doubles as a guest bathroom that is easily accessible if people are utilising the sleeper couch in the living area. The living area incorporates kitchen, large dining table and sitting room space, all under a large double volume area with high glazed front. Sliding doors open onto a patio fronted by a tiny garden. Enjoy morning coffee or afternoon wine on the outdoor furniture whilst feeling dwarfed in the presence of Table Mountain visible beyond the greenery.

Move up the flight of stairs to the second bedroom and en-suite bathroom consisting of a toilet, hand basin and shower. A small space before the bedroom would function well as office or study space.

The Orangerie complex is located in Cape Town's Gardens district. The grounds consist of 2 rows of townhouse apartments in a landscaped and formal garden setting run through by a long gazeboed water feature. Centrally situated in a bustling and vibrant area yet positioned well back from the road- traffic and city sounds are all but inaudible in the verdant and tranquil setting.

{About the area}

Gardens is an old extension of Cape Town city tinged with a fresh breath of brand new development: hotels, shops and restaurants. The old Cape Town feel that emanates from the Museums, churches and Company Gardens is complemented by the creative influence of the Michaelis Art School, the off-the-wall Labia Cinema complex and the herds of students, media types and career poseurs of many persuasions on Kloof St.

Societie Bistro- walking distance, sit outside and watch Cape Town move on by. Good pork belly.

Raiths at Gardens Centre- German meat and deli paradise. Wurst galore, good bread, try the goulash soup when they have it. Daytime only.

Hmm- bakery and retsaurant. Hidden in darkest Gardens. Good cake and sandwiches

Tabula Rasa- laundry by day, sometime theatre by night. Another hidden nugget

Mount Nelson Hotel- grand old goat of a hotel with outrageous afternoon tea

Nonna Lina- Italian Bistro

Vida e Caffe and Seattle Coffee Company 

Royale Eatery- burgers given a grand treatment

Asoka and Planet Bar- both in the top 50 bars of the world 

Wembley Square- combine a gym workout at Virgin Active with some precious boutique shopping and then all manner of refreshments from sushi, to brioche to farturas
