There can be surely few more scenic or accessible places to paraglide than Cape Town. If you keen for the once-off thrill of it, or to check out whether this is the sport for you, a tandem is the way to go. Sign up for a Tandem Instructional Flight (TIF) with a licensed pilot who has a total of thirteen years of active paragliding experience and of which the last seven years have included tandem flying in the Western Cape.
- Safety | Experience - Paragliding is weather dependant and because of this we are not able to offer a set venue and thereof, fly a number of different sites. Each site has its own beauty and appeal but no matter where we fly our focus on YOUR Safety. In South Africa there is no insurance offered for paragliding and you are required to sign a SAHPA (South African Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association) indemnity before undertaking the sport because you must be made aware of the inherent risks associated with paragliding. When booking a tandem flight with us you can be assured that you are getting a highly experienced Tandem Flight Instructor, who is able to handle any flight condition and who has an in-depth knowledge of the weather patterns and changing condition that occur in the Western Cape, but above all, you will know that that we want you to have the best and safest paragliding flight possible, so that you can share this wonderful experience with your family and friends. - Areas we fly in Cape Town -
Typically we fly from Lions Head and Signal Hill in the Cape Town area as this is the most available site. When flying from Lions Head we land at La Med between Camps Bay and Clifton 1st Beach. The flights from this venue are spectacular and most enjoyable but generally the flights are not long in this area because of the low wind conditions that prevail. Signal Hill is utilized when the wind is most westerly and is flown less frequently but one again the flight is amazing because you are soaring over the Sea point CBD and we land on the promenade which is most enjoyable. Sites that are flown outside of Cape Town include Sir Lowry’s Pass in the Overberg, Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville and includes a wine tasting and Hermanus which is the whale watching capital of South Africa. Because of the location of theses alternative flying locations we do charge additional for travel and you will be notified of this prior to your conformation. - What it will cost you -
Standard Rate for the TFI course is R1000.00 and this includes a mandatory fee to SAHPA of SA. Transport is charged if flights are to be undertaken outside of the Cape Town CBD and this is charged at a flat rate of R250.00 for any site within a 100km of Cape Town and R450 thereafter and this can be split between all the persons flying for the day.
