Cape Town Digest - food, wine, and places to stay
|
| Cape Town Digest is the official propaganda wing of Holiday Rentals Cape Town, www.rentalscapetown.com. We live in Cape Town and love it and want to tell you about what we get up to and what's good about our town so that you'll come and visit it.
Going out to good restaurants, discovering great fresh produce, bread, meat, cheeses and wine; visiting the areas around Cape Town that lovingly farm and produce this stuff are what we like doing a lot. |

Review- Stay at Venice Terrace, Canal Quays- Diane and Jackie, Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, UK- March |
I managed to get a great deal on this one bedroom apartment by contacting Greg of www.rentalscapetown.com at the last minute (about 4 days before arrival). We were travelling back to England from the Garden Route of the Western Cape and needed a safe and central place that would allow us to enjoy Cape Town for a few days. The flat that we got is at a canal side development called Canal Quays- sort of between the Cape Town Convention Centre and the V&A Waterfront. We definitely got a lot for our money
Although it isn't in the Waterfront Marina residential complex it is right on its doorstep- with a daily rate that is a lot better. The building is modern and neat- the focal point being the canal that runs in front of it. Our apartment was on the ground floor with sliding doors that opened onto a sheltered patio. The building is adjacent to the working harbour so the view had a fairly industrial aspect- you either like the dockyard or you don't. But the proximity of the water and the comfort and space of the apartment creates a soft and welcoming ambience. I especially liked the décor in the blue and modern kitchen- equipped with everything you could need. Greg had emailed us detailed directions and check in details so it was a self-check in experience but clear and straightforward every step of the way. We were two single ladies so the two twin beds in the bedroom was a good configuration for us. The bathroom was large with a big all glass shower area. The guest bathroom with wash basin gave us a bit of extra space and made us forget we were sharing a 1 bedroom apartment. Big living area, lots of satellite channels and 2 big and comfy sofas were very much appreciated. There was a counter to eat and work at as well as a large dining suite (that we never used). I especially liked the walk to the Waterfront, it looks like they are in the process of finishing off the pathway. It does take about 20 minutes but then you have access to all the shops and supermarkets and restaurants you could require. Overall: a generous and very fresh apartment (nice organic toiletries), good location, well organized arrival and departure and an ideal and restful base to spend our few days in Cape Town before our flight home.
