Cape Town Digest - food, wine, and places to stay
|
| Cape Town Digest is the official propaganda wing of Holiday Rentals Cape Town, www.rentalscapetown.com. We live in Cape Town and love it and want to tell you about what we get up to and what's good about our town so that you'll come and visit it.
Going out to good restaurants, discovering great fresh produce, bread, meat, cheeses and wine; visiting the areas around Cape Town that lovingly farm and produce this stuff are what we like doing a lot. |

Crush on St Georges Mall - The City closes inCrush, 100 St Georges Mall, Cape Town City Centre, 021 422 5533After negotiating tortuous multi-level parking ramps and escaping via labyrinthine service corridors from a looming office building on Wale St; I am to be found shaken and pale looking for nourishment in the city...
In the characterful Long St/St Georges Mall bit of Cape Town. People wear their city clothes and sit in city coffee shops. I've chosen an anorak and Crush on St Georges Mall. There are tables and chairs set up outside in the pedestrian walkway but I'm inside at the counter facing outside through the shop window. Here's an informal arum lily salesman standing at the door: probably R20 for 6 and you can go and pick fields of them a 20 minute drive away. Crush is a fresh green & cream styled "Fresh Food Fast" place. My caffé americano was nice and fresh. Made from Puro coffee, certified Fair Trade so we know we are protecting the rain forest by sipping on our R10 coffee. The sandwiches come on an interesting array of breads with standardish upmarket deli fillings. I've had their muffins: classic health store style: high density and nutrient rich. I'm always lured to them but if you are less into self-punishment there are tasty brownies and carrot cake. Watch out for more inner-city thrills and spills right here. Should you wish to discover the streets of Cape Town first hand then have a look at our super duper Cape Town accommodation options at Holiday Rentals Cape Town. |

Foraging for ideas at the Bandwidth Barn
Just “stepping out” from the Idea Workshop at the Bandwidth Barn in Cape Town. 3 gruelling days of school and instant coffee. Why do Rose and I subject ourselves to this? Because holiday accommodation isn’t just about comfy beds and views of sugar white beaches from decks of exotic timber. Its about silicon, high tech, [...]

Perfect Sea Point morning
An appointment to see a Sea Point studio on the beach front went awry so we ended up sitting here sipping coffee from polystyrene coffee cups at the the tent of coffee and all day breakfast next to the Sea Point Pavilion. Wonder at the almost real time nature of the photograph. Just a 5 [...]

One Off White
Well we weren’t going to drink anything tonight (being a Sunday night we try to be fresh for Monday even though we work from home). But unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately as I really enjoyed it – we decided to have a glass. Another well priced option – this time One Off White from Woolworths – [...]
