Wines we like – from around Cape Town

I’m starting a new category which I’ve been meaning to do for a long time – Wines we like. We like drinking good wine but like it even more when they’re well priced. So I’ll post every wine we really enjoy on the blog…starting now, the 11 May 2012.

Riebeek Cellars Chenin Blanc (Swartland Area) from Pick ‘n Pay for under R30

They say: Intense tropical flavours are well-balanced by a crisp acid to ensure a fresh & fruity wine to enjoy at any occasion. Drink within 2 years with your favourite light meal or as a glass on its own.

We say: Greg doesn’t like comparing wine to freshly cut grass and bananas. He says it all just tastes like wine to him – and he either likes it or not. This one he liked.

I could really taste a lovely fig-like taste in this wine and also was a bit grassy. Really lovely and for under R30. Nice price!

Score: We give it a 4 out of 5.

And where did we drink this? Stone Roof House – Eco Lux Weekend Getaway
